At Philly's Famous, our story begins long before the first cheesesteak hit the grill.The Gallagher family's roots in Philadelphia stretch back generations. Chris Gallagher's great-grandfather emigrated from Northern Ireland and settled in Philadelphia's Port Richmond neighborhood, where he worked at the Frankford Arsenal. His grandfather served the city as a Philadelphia Mounted Patrol officer, and his father grew up building homes and working along the busy docks of Delaware Avenue.Anita's story is Philadelphia through and through as well. She grew up in Northeast Philadelphia near Academy and Newberry Roads and graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School. Together, Chris and Anita built their lives around hard work, family, and serving their community.For more than 35 years, Chris owned and operated a successful trucking company, managing every aspect of the business from operations and compliance to customer service and financial management. During that time, Chris and Anita also owned and operated a beloved ice cream shop in Warminster, Pennsylvania, for eight years, creating a neighborhood destination where families gathered and memories were made.After vacationing in Southwest Florida for nearly 30 years, the Gallaghers made Bonita Springs their permanent home in 2020. While settling into the community, Anita worked at Publix, where her friendly service and expertly made subs earned a loyal following. Customers would often seek her out by name, knowing they could count on a great sandwich and a warm smile.But there was one thing they kept noticing: Southwest Florida was missing the authentic Philadelphia flavors they grew up with.So they decided to bring a taste of home to Bonita Springs.Philly's Famous was founded to serve the cheesesteaks, hoagies, and neighborhood favorites that generations of Philadelphians know and love. Every sandwich reflects the traditions, recipes, and standards that Chris and Anita grew up with in the city they still proudly call home.Today, Philly's Famous is more than a restaurant. It's a family business built on generations of hard work, hospitality, and community.
